The cold in Purulia is not just uncomfortable — for many, it is a quiet hardship that passes unnoticed. Nights grow longer, and warmth becomes a privilege.
In several villages, families rely on thin clothing to survive winter nights. Elderly residents are the most affected, followed closely by children who continue their routines despite the weather.
This year, we decided to intervene before the cold reached its peak. What began as a small effort soon became a coordinated drive involving volunteers, donors, and local contacts.
The team travelled across multiple locations, identifying families in need and ensuring fair distribution. Each interaction added context to the numbers we often report.
The process was simple in design but meaningful in execution. Volunteers carried supplies, engaged with villagers, and ensured that distribution reached those most in need.
While the numbers reflect scale, the real impact lies in the conversations, the gratitude, and the quiet assurance that someone is paying attention.
